Small Ensembles Win Gold and Silver in Atlanta

The Starkville Academy Band Small Ensembles recently went on a tour of Atlanta and received gold and silver awards for their performances.  Congratulations to these hard working students for their exceptional performances. While we were in Atlanta we also toured the CNN production studios and the Georgia Aquarium. We spent an entire day at Six Flags, rode every roller coaster there, and went to an awards ceremony that night where the Saxophone Quartet and Brass Trio received Gold Ratings, the highest rating possible. The Flute / Clarinet Quintet received a Silver Rating, the second highest rating possible.

Our state music performance evaluation, the MAIS concert and sightreading festival, will be held at Jackson Academy on April 5th. The concert portion, open to the public, will be held in the auditorium of the JA performing arts center at 4908 Ridgewood Rd.  Jackson, MS 39211. Sightreading however is done in a closed session with only the students, directors and judges present. Warm Up will begin at 9:30 meaning that we will need to leave Starkville Academy on Thursday, Apr. 5 no later than 7:00 AM. We will begin loading the bus no later than 6:30 AM.
